GeoHab 2010 was held 47
May 2010 in Wellington, New Zealand, at
the beautiful and historic Wellington
Town Hall. The conference was organized
by Geoffroy Lamarche (Convener and Chair
of Committees), with the able assistance
of a local organizing committee of
fourteen and a scientific committee of
ten. The overall theme of the conference
was Characterization, Quantification
and Diversity of Extreme Habitats.

There were sixteen sponsoring
companies/institutions of GeoHab 2010. Two
gold sponsors were Kongsberg Maritime
and the Commonwealth Environment Research
Facilities Australian Marine Biodiversity
Research Hub. Support and financial contributions
from sponsors and exhibitors enabled GeoHab 2010
to enjoy the excellent venue and a diverse social
program.
From the Mihimihi (traditional Maori welcome) to
the successful post-conference field trip, GeoHab
2010 provided attendees a glimpse of New Zealand
and its culture as well as the opportunity to
hear about and discuss outstanding marine
scientific research.
