GeoHab 2010 was held 4–7 May 2010 in Wellington, New Zealand, at the beautiful and historic Wellington Town Hall. The conference was organized by Geoffroy Lamarche (Convener and Chair of Committees), with the able assistance of a local organizing committee of fourteen and a scientific committee of ten. The overall theme of the conference was Characterization, Quantification and Diversity of Extreme Habitats.
There were sixteen sponsoring companies/institutions of GeoHab 2010. Two “gold” sponsors were Kongsberg Maritime and the Commonwealth Environment Research Facilities – Australian Marine Biodiversity Research Hub. Support and financial contributions from sponsors and exhibitors enabled GeoHab 2010 to enjoy the excellent venue and a diverse social program.
From the Mihimihi (traditional Maori welcome) to the successful post-conference field trip, GeoHab 2010 provided attendees a glimpse of New Zealand and its culture as well as the opportunity to hear about and discuss outstanding marine scientific research.
